Since rediscovering his paint brushes, after a 30 year break, Alexander has been a finalist in the 2010 Basil Sellers Art prize, has entered the 2011 Archibald Prize Competition (Subject: NRL star Michael Weyman), the Wynne Landscape prize, the Gallipoli Art Prize, the Broken Hill Outback Art competition and the West Australian Black Swan Prize for portraiture. His work borrows heavily from the French masters, World War 1 themes and the Beatles.

He works from his studio on the idyllic shore of a NSW south coast lake and spends most of his day painting.
